Red hot

Sworn to the Queen is a fantasy told in five episodes, all of them under two minutes. The Queen and Kale are Candy characters, with no star twin involved, and we score it Red hot, 4 of 5 flames. Castle intrigue, a royal decree and a guard who has to stay very still.

Where it starts

Episode 1 begins with the rule everyone knows: touching the Queen is punishable by death. A stable hand named Kale is brought into the Queensguard, and the Queen herself picks him to watch her bedchamber from tonight.

He assumes she wants his sword arm. She says she chose him because he looks back when she looks at him. She points out that the law only forbids him from touching her, and says nothing about the other direction. Start episode 1 and listen for how she says it; episode 2 opens with a free account.

Queen and guard

The cast is two fictional AI characters, the Queen and Kale. No real performer licensed her likeness for this one, so it is a pure Candy creation. It runs on atmosphere: torchlight, a locked door, and a lot of eye contact. For another royal setting, try The King's Chambermaid.

What it costs

Kale's night at the Queen's door costs nothing and needs no login; a free account opens the next one. Past that, the final three chapters of the dare are 12 tokens apiece, 36 in total. The setting is the same fantasy world throughout, so there is no extra cast to track from one paid episode to the next. We watched it in one sitting and it felt tight.

Should you watch Sworn to the Queen?

A tidy fantasy story with a clear power flip: the queen holds all the cards and enjoys it. Worth a look for the setting alone.

You will like it if fans of royal courts and slow-burn dares will enjoy it.

Pass if you prefer modern, everyday settings.
